Submarine Service Perisher Tie

2017 marks the centenary of the first Royal Navy Submarine Command Course, Perisher. To celebrate this anniversary and to recognise all of those who attended this course as they prepared to take command on one of HM's submarines, Windridge & Young was commissioned to produce the Perisher necktie.

This handmade tie is available to pre-order and will be shipped at the end of July.

All of our fine mulberry silk ties, with their brushed wool interlining, are hand-crafted in England, supporting British manufacturing and enterprise.

Each tie is finished with a hand-braided bar tag and matching hidden tension loop which helps the silk relax back into shape after being worn.

This silk tie in a bespoke weave with the motif has a soft madder finish. The tie been cut with a traditional 9cm blade and finished with matching silk tipping.

Established by the Royal Navy during World War I, Perisher was designed to institutionalise submarine command training and experience. It has always been recognised as one of the most intensive military training and assessment courses in the world, and as a result became informally known as The Perisher because of its low success rate. Given the high standards, the image of a stopwatch emerged as one of the most distinctive elements of the course and was therefore chosen as the motif to adorn this unique necktie.
